Did you know that you can add stuff from the Web to your space or event without even knowing a tiny bit of code? They’re called gadgets, and thanks to some hard-working developers from around the world, there are now over 1,500 gadgets available worldwide for Windows Live Spaces and Windows Live Events.
I wanted to highlight a few specific gadgets. The gadgets listed below make keeping in touch with your friends and Messenger contacts more fun, finding content on your blog faster, and adding interesting content from MSN easier. Live Spaces photos - normal resolution or high resolution

The Live Photos upload tool now has an option to upload your photo in a higher resultion (1600 by 1600, 85% quality) than the resolution we've been using for a couple of years.

To use this new feature, tick the box at the top of the upload tool which says Upload photos for printing. As yet, Australia doesn't have the option to send off photos to Snapfish for printing but it'll appear some time soon.

Be careful, however, that you don't upload all your photos in the higher resultion otherwise visitors t your site with a slow internet connection could become frustrated.

If you've got photos you want to show off in the old, normal, low resolution, then make an album as normal and make a separate album for your high resolution uploads.

For example, see Kevin's Pixel Bits - this is the link to some shots of kangaroos in normal, low resolution and here's the link to the same photos uploaded in high resolutiion. To see the difference, use the full screen slideshow view.

There are now 3 ways to post videos to your Space

Via The Space Craft, the team Space for Windows Live Spaces.

We've been using Option 1 and Option 2 for a few weeks now.

Option 3 (below) seems to be a good variation from Mixpo. Go to their site, register for free, and try it out. There are two options to use Mixpo: a gadget and/or you can use the embed code to paste into one of your entries.

Many of you have asked us how you can post videos on your Space.   We wanted to let you know that as of the last release, there are now three ways to post videos on Spaces depending on how you want to present the videos. You can get information below as well as on the Spaces Video information page.
Option 1: Share videos that you like on Spaces
Spaces offers the Video Player for MSN Soapbox gadget for people that want to both upload personal videos and also showcase multiple videos on Spaces in one gadget.

You can also include videos that other people have uploaded onto the Internet sites by using the Universal Video Player gadget or the YouTube Video gadget.

Option 2: Embed a video in a blog entry
Have you ever written a blog entry and wanted to include a video to play directly in your blog entry? Now you can do it on Spaces!

When you compose a blog entry on Spaces, just click the "Embed Videos" link at the bottom of the Compose Entry page and paste the video embed code into the window.
Option 3: Quickly share and control your videos with Mixpo on Windows Live Spaces
Spaces has partnered with Mixpo to offer a cool new way to post your videos, create slideshows, add annotations and other stuff with a gadget they call a Mixcard.

Mixpo is easy to use and fast to get the videos into you Space – your videos are viewable online in seconds.  In addition, with Mixpo, you are in total control to change, add, delete or modify your Mixcard from your computer without having to re-upload the videos. Now Spaces users can really share their digital stories in a creative and safe way.

Embed code for recent additions to Soapbox

To save you a bit of time (sort of) and instead of finding it at The Soapbox Team Space, here's the embed code you need for enabling visitors to your Space to play any of the most recent videos that have been added to Soapbox on MSN Video:

Copy and paste the above into the textbox in the Video player and Save - visitors can then choose a video to play.

Video Gadgets for your Space

See the webDotWiz Space to add the Soapbox on MSN Video gadget to your own Space so visitors can watch the latest and most commented videos, as well as search for videos according to whatever tags (keywords) you choose - see this post from webDotWiz for some help to install this gadget.

A new module, RSS Feed, has been added and it points to the webDotWiz Space. webDotWiz tries to keep an eye on all the new bits and pieces that are being introduced under the Windows Live banner so keep an eye out. He might even get some time to write up some how-tos - if he doesn't, one or more of the webDotWizards are sure to do the job.

Time flies when we're all having fun. Yes, it's one year since the first MSN Space was created by Marg (Moora Road). At first we were just going to use our Space to make it easy to share photos but lots has happened to MSN Spaces and the whole Windows Live thing has brought together Spaces, Live.com for feeds from other people's Spaces, and Live profile so as to find others of similar interests and hobbies.
