While at Genie's site (link below), take a few minutes to browse her photo albums for some good photos of the native plants she came across in the Rushworth forest.

Bush walking with Louise Costa
This morning, Saturday September 27th at 8.00 we met at the Community Centre.
With Louise as our guide we headed off to look for wildflowers in our local forest.
The weather was great, also the company, we walked up Growlers Hill and down to the Flora Reserve,
then on to the clay dam. What a lovely spot, the colours around the waters edge very vivid and there was even water in the dam !!!!!
Enjoyed the morning so much will go again next month.

A good example of being able to crop your photos if your camera takes shots in millions of pixels. Look at the third photo for the detail of the wire that the galah is sitting on and the detail in its feathers.

I like Galahs, their colours, the way the walk and the clack-clack sounds they make when feeding their babies. i photographed this one on the power lines with the lens at 300mm (480mm in 35mm terms). looked OK so i cropped it, still looked OK so cropped it again. I’m pleased with the result, brings out their nice looks and colour. Which reminds me, I think their politically correct name is now Pink and Grey Cockatoo.

Sturt's Desert Pea - Alice Springs Desert Park

I've noticed that one or two of you have taken a look at an earlier photo of Sturt's Desert Pea I showed. They have been my favourite flowers for 56 years, ever since I saw some growing in desert country near Menindee NSW. Much deeper reds and blacker "noses" than others I had seen growing in home gardens; left quite an impression on a 13 year old boy.

These photos were taken in 1998 at Alice Springs Desert Park, where the climate suits them well. You may recognise this first one.
